The concert started a bit late around 7 PM instead of 6:30, and he played till 9:30 PM. Overall a very good concert, though i was a bit disappointed that he didnt play an RTP. I particularly liked the main piece in vagadeeshwari. I dont remember anyone singing vagadeeshwari as the main piece in any concert (though i may be wrong). The raga alapana was excellent by both Ravikiran and Nagaraj.
Mysore Nagaraj as expected played brilliantly. The last long kalpanaswaram (usually proceeds to thani without a chance to the violinist) was played exceptionally well by Nagaraj.
Percussion by K V Prasad and B N Chandramouli was also very good.

Unlikely. I have heard him play only in hindustAni bEhAg. I think every artiste other than Smt MS have sung/played it only in hindustAni bEhAg.cienu wrote:Was this sung as a Ragamalika?
Smt MS sings first pallavi in nATTai, first charaNa in gowLa, third in varALi, fourth in Arabhi and fifth in SrI is a repeat of the 4th charaNA with the words purandaraviTTalA substituted for tiruvEnkaTanAyaka. Thereby, she (In reality, Kadayanallur Venkataraman) had made it a composition of purandaradAsar and annamAcharyA. She has sung swaras for all charanAs. I don't know how many of you have noticed this.

Ravikiran is Genious. Mysore Nagaraj is also a Genious.apbhat wrote:ravikiran is a genious.thanks for elaborate reviewing
I remember a Concert by Ravikiran(accompanied by Mysore Nagaraj) in Veene sheshanna Bhavana at Mysore 6 yrs ago.
It was an superb concert. Submain item was Hiranmayeem Lakshmim with Elaborate raga and Swaraprasthara.
Nagaraj was exceptionally good.
Nagaraj and Ravikiran form a good duo.
Even Nagaraj with Sanjay also forms an excellent duo.
Nagaraj with anybody artist will form a good duo.(Nagaraj is such an outstanding artist)

As for Anahita, yes she sang some songs in the concert. I felt it was a bit distracting in the varnam when she seemed to sound louder than the chitraveena! The sound was more balanced later.
