MS owned an ancient Steinway grand piano that used to be housed in her residence at Kalki Gardens. It is beleived that many immortal MS hits were tuned on that great instrument - such as Hari Tum Haro. The piano was donated subsquently by MS's family to Kalakshetra. Leela Samson and Anil Srinivasan have devoted a considerable amount of time and expense in repairing and restoring this instrument since it was not in a good condition.
The return of the instrument in its pristine state was deemed of great importance by both the artists mentioned and Kalakshetra and hence this event. Apparently, MS herself used to play harmonies in the form of chord arrangements and sing along with the piano in the days gone by.
It definitely promises to be an event of some importance given the effort that has gone into bringing this heirloom back to its former glory and good to see artists of a younger generation taking great pains to preserve these important artefacts of our heritage.

MS, Steinway, Piano- all Grand
Wish I could get to hear this program.
Just now a piano arrived at my home- not grand, though sounding grand. Can't wait to get home to lay my hands on it. Mixing piano and CM violin has been a dream. Would love to learn that.
Suji,
Your enthusiasm for music and the zest for trying to learn different instruments is reflected in your post. And the coincidence of the piano arriving at the ame time as the concert! Good luck with your playing.
Cienu, Anil,
As Ravi says, we are hoping that a CD would be made to celebrate this
event of 'perfect harmony'.
