Enjoy! (Audio Courtesy: Bilahari and  'ji - thanks!)

Any comments/opinions as before are always appreciated! If possible, please comment on the blog
Note - answers are on the post itself and "hidden" until revealed. So to let others enjoy the post, please do not post the direct answer here - please do not be "that friend who blurts out the raga before we can figure it out" . I just want people to enjoy some rare pieces (atleast what I think are rare - may not be rare to all) and get their own individual satisfaction in getting the raga.

Thanks
Arun

Of course the artiste could be identified even asleep:)
Knew the raga but the memory would not click in (rusted).
Guessed the wrong raga which did not fit. Finally listening to the full svaram identified the kriti along with the raga. I have always liked this with the maestro (I think I have heard it in person). He was born to sing such vakra ragas!
Is this a eka kriti raga? SSI does sing this occasionally....

It is not eka krithi raga. The second clip is for a different (I believe GNB?) krithi - marivere. Very few are strictly eka raga krithis - someone else always tries it. I guess some are eka raga krithis within the context of presentation in concerts.

I did not know the raga ( though I have heard the song before ). It sounded like Poornachandrika and in some places Chenchu kambodhi as well.

Has anybody done a RTP on this raga? I think since it is vakra it cannot be handled quite easily for elaboration.

I vaguely remember TMK has performed an RTP in this raga? Certainly, it would take quite a bit of imagination to pull this one off as an RTP (well, unless it's one of those 20-min RTPs).

The thing is these days these songs are so rushed through that I don't find time to register the raga's name and structure in my mind. I tend to just wait for the main song that'll follow it! I saw shades of nenaruncinAnu in the MMI alapanai ... but I thought the song was janaranjani (PMGMR would be allowed in that too, I suppose?).

Nice raga!
