It is rupakam and that too in the proper 2+4 format. In 1-kaLai, the song's laya falls nicely along that pattern. But for some reason, the common practice is to keep it in 3 like tisra ekam... Off my soap box.... I checked SSP and it is notated as proper chathusra rupakam in the 2+4 pattern.
