This apoorva raga is the Janya of 28th mela HK. The Arohana avarohana of this raga are:

Arohanam: S M P N S
Avarohanam: S D M P G M R N S

Sri. Tanjore S. Kalyanaraman had sung in this raga a thillana in the recent Music Album "Sunaadha Vinodhan-Part II-Tanjore S. Kalyanaraman-Ahead of his times " recently brought out by Swathi's Sanskriti / by Kalakendra. All the 41 songs in this CD by this great musician is awesome and melodious. There is a popular Malayalam Film duet song of 1968, sung by KJJ & P Suseela music by Baburaj in the Malayalam Film ' KARTHIKA ' This film song can be heard in the link given below:

Can some one give any details of this rare raga, please. Is any song composed in this raga by any musicians. What about Sri. Ilaya Raja ? any tamil film song in this raga tuned by him?

BTW, I see the VKD varnam truncated in the another thread/post. Strangely, I lost my copy on the home PC!. Offcourse I can play it. I have polished it since to fall on the right beat.

GNB is said to have heard Bade Ghulam Ali Khan sing Gavathi. Inspired by this rendition he has composed the varnam kamala vAsini in this raga.
