Lyrics as posted appear correct.

It would be better if you to could point out the exact words/place that you have in mind, which according to you are incorrect, instead of subjecting others to some kind of test.

Keerthi,

Could you clarify on the third line of the charaNam? In the rendition I am listening to, BMK sings it as:

"vasudEva tanayuDam shrInivAsu vrajamAninIshu krupaku pAtruDai"

Keerthi - is this composition Poochis, praising his guru? For isn't the Saint considered to be an incarnation of nArada (nAradAmSuDai avatarinci)?

If this is indeed a composition of the Saint's, it makes me wonder who Sri Tyagaraja is refering to here. As I translate the caraNa with my limited telugu, it reads as 'the exemplary (vara) nAradAmSuDu who incarnated (avatarinci) in the land of the five (panca) rivers (nadamuna), an outstanding (merayu) place on this earth (vasudhalO), and taught/imparted to (bodhinci) mankind (manujulaku) the secrets and intricacies (marmamulanu) of the art and science (SAstra) of music (gIta) in an extremely acceptable (ranjillaga) and expressive (rasamuga) fashion'?

No doubt about it.. I should have mentioned it somewhere.. Nobody attributes it to thyAgaraja except the sangeethapriya tribute page.. ;)

I suspect srI Mangalampalli has taken some liberties and 'refashioned' the sahityam.. I won't speculate why.. His 'version' gives a meaning of 'one who gained the grace/favour of the lord of the women of vraja i.e. the gOpI-s'..

vasudEva tanayuDagu shrInivAsa vajIruni okka krpaku pAtruDai is correct.. I have it from the book printed by Salem.chellam ayyangAr, s/o salem duraiswamy ayyangAr student of rAmnAD 'pUchi' srinivAsa ayyangAr, composer of this song.. the author was in possesion of PUchi's notebooks..

This version will mean 'one who gained the favour of srInivAsa vajIra, who was the son of vasudEva'

I suspect the word vajIra here is only used in the sense of lord/ master 'durai' etc. and not referring to some minister 'vazIr'.

lord srInivAsa, son of vasudEva will then be the import..
