Neelambari, the association of students of Sangeetha Kalarathna Vidushi Neela Ramgopal, will present a two-day music festival.

The fest begins on July 25 to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary musician Sangita Kalanidhi G.N. Balasubramaniam.

The 2nd day - July 26th will see a talk by Vid.Neela Ramgopal "G.N.B. the legend and his contribution to Carnatic Music" - and a concert by Vid Geetha Murthy.

Both concerts will be devoted to the compositions of Shri GNB

Thank you, Sappri. Hope some of our BengaLUru RAsikAs attend and post a review too. A sampling perhaps, if it is allowed :)

Wish you were here Ms.Arasi - I am sure you would've *loved* Neela mami's truly insightful speech and the rare kritis that were presented across 2 days.

Posting the concert list of Sumitra Nitin - which was held on the 25th of July. Sumitra Nitin was accompanied by Jyotsna Manjunath on the violin and Renuka prasad on the mridangam.

Lovely song list, if I may add:

1. Andolika Varnam
2. Karimukha varada - Adi - Nattai (S)
3. Dashashatha dala sarojaasane - Adi - Hamsanaadam (speciality being the ‘shatshruthi deivatham’ in the
avarohanam - prayogam - ‘S N D N P M R S’ (which Vid Neela Ramgopal highlighted in her speech the foll day)
4. Paramkripa Sagari - Rupakam - Yadukulakambodi (R, S)
5. Saraswathi Namosthuthe - Rupakam - Saraswathi
6. Mama Kuleswaram - Tisra Ekam (2 kalai) - Todi (R, N, S)
7. Thani
8. Paada Bhajana - Rupakam - Khamas
9. Thillaana in Hamsanandhi - Adi

If I recall, there was a CD of Arasi's compositions sung by Sumitra Nitin, which was brought out a couple of years ago...

Will post the list of Vid Geetha Murthy tomorrow...

Sappri,
Hope you post Geetha Murthy's list too.
Would be nice if fellow-forumite Neela Ramgopal lets you post some samples of the two concerts and her speech about GNB.

Gnaanam said they were coming.

Sorry about the delay in my response, Ms.Arasi, - Here's Vid Geetha Murthy's list, the highlights being the PurviKalyani and the Valachi.
She was accompanied by Prema Vivek on the violin (who did a splendid job) and Ranjani Venkatesh on the mridangam, who played with good understanding of each kriti and was really good support to the main vocalist and the violinist.

1) Amboruha - Ranjani Varnam
2) Varavallabha - Hamsadhwani - Adi (S)
3) Nakabhaya varamulosakhi = Nattakurinji - rupakam (real nice composition)
4) Santatamu ninne - Valachi = Adi (R, S)
5) Sri chakra raja nilaye - Shivashakti - Adi
6) Madura puri kalyani - Purvikalyani -Vilomachapu - (R, N, S)
7) Thani
8) En mana thaamarai - Ritigowla
9) Hamasandhi thillana
