#6 should strictly speaking, be "kAmAkSi anudinamu...". The "ambA..." is not there in the original SS lyrics!

Item #2 is a composition of K. Ponnaiah Pillai (1888 - 1945), descendant of the Tanjore Quartette. He's NOT the same person as the Ponnaiah of the Quartette.

Item #2 is DEFINITELY not a composition of K.Ponniah piLLAi (the sangIta kalAnidhi). He hasn't composed in telugu as far as i know.. It is a composition of the quartette ponniah who trained under MutthuswAmi dIkSita, as he says in the song..

Prince Varma clearly mentioned before singing the Kriti that it is the composition of Sri. Ponnaiah of the Tanjore Quartet and Ponnaiah Pillai was his grandson.

My mistake entirely. Sorry! Got misled by a dubious reference, will take better care in future to cross check. Have edited my previous post.

Where are the original SS lyrics available? What happens to the tala if there is no ambA?

the swarajati is notated in the SSP, and it is without the ambA. It is not just this song, but several compositions of Shama shAstry and even some of the kamalAmba krti-s that have indiscriminate amba-s thrown in..

agree with kithi here... I think it is poetic liberty that is often taken by artists inserting amba in Shyama Shastri Krithis to convey bhava better I guess.
