Mohan raised the issue about this website in the ST thread a couple of days ago. It is indeed unfortunate meena. That site was very nice and a good listening experience.

Well, a whois search using another website reveals this.

Created On:14-Mar-2003 07:48:12 UTC
Last Updated On:17-Apr-2006 09:22:37 UTC
Expiration Date:14-Mar-2007 07:48:12 UTC

It looks like the domain registration has been renewed 4 days back. So there is hope.

I too got a bit worried when the site wasn't up a few days ago. I was hoping it didn't go the way of Sangeetham. It is a rich source of information on the Maharaja's compositions.

I hope it's up soon. Maybe the internet is becoming more and more expensive for webmasters.

Even if we want to help out, the 'whois' database does not seem to have the full address/phone number of the owner/webmaster. With respect to the cost, the annual registration costs are now just $9/year ( godaddy.com ) but the hosting and bandwidth costs can be much more ( though they are on a downward trend, I would preassume ). May be, srkris can comment on the typical ballpark costs.

If any of you have any contact info for the admin of that site, please find out if the reasons are financial. We can then try to do something or advise them on how to keep the costs low using Google ads. etc.

I hope they are updating the site further. Perhaps working on a new look?

The site has moved to "swathithirunal.in"

This was probably not publicized by the creators C-DIT which is an autonomous body created by the Govt. of Kerala. The Malayalam daily "Mathrubhumi" had an article on Saturday flashing the headline "Swathithirunal site for sale". The next day the same daily carried a clarification from C-DIT saying the site has moved to the new address, but it has not been publicized since no date has been set for a formal "inauguration", which has to be done by the state Culture Minister, who is not fully in the groove yet coz a new govt has just taken charge!!!

:cheesy:
