Musicality and Sahityam

The title could be simplified to music and lyrics really.

I can recollect some sahityam that was exquisitely written with the usage and the mood of the phrases matching the bits of the raga and tala used. I believe that such adds a beauty that the instruments themselves don't convey even when the song is ultimately familiar to us. Notably, the following (starting with popular compositions):

1. "sAmani gamaja sudhA" ( Sa-ma-ni is an actual word and also carries the exact syllables of the swaras used when singing)

2. "kadari manamuruga nAn azhaikkavO idara mAdaruDan nI kaLikkavO idu taghumO... idu muraiyO...idu dharumam tAnO" - exquisitely bringing out the kAnada phrases as well.

3. "Ela nee dayaradu" - the very phrase is beautiful and brings out the beauty of Athana.

4. "Aturamuga karirAjuni brOcina vAsudEvuDE nIvu gadA " from Brochevarevarura. Also nails the raga down to the karuna rasa (while the brochevarevarura in the pallavi conveys the shringara rasa)

5. "en vinaiyAlE paDum pADu tanai sholla varumpOdu" in Baala's vilayADa idu nErama (Shanmukhapriya). The phrases just nailed down Shanmukhapriya even though they don't use the madhyamam (IIRC).

6. "Munnam payind'RadO innAdagamellAm; MannA kamalakkaNNA maNivaNNA " - unforgettable lines from Lalgudi's varnam in Charukesi - innum en manam

I'd be honoured if other members share such musical epiphanies they have experienced on this thread.

The basic swaras for this line are ,M,GM,DN,SNS. I feel the swarakshara sangati S,,,MN,DN,SNS has been added later to match the sahitya.

The sAhitya actually is 'sAma nigamaja sudhA' which had been used as well as a swarAsharam.
