Here is the translation.... additions/corrections welcome...

sunE rI mainE nirbal kE bala rAm
picchlI sAkh bharUn santan kI aDE samvArE kAm
I(maine) have heard (sunE rI) that the strength (bal) of the weak (nirbal) is sri rAma.
picchlI sAkh bharUn santan kI - ??? will find out soon... :)
he mends (saMvAre) the stuck up (aDe) works (kAm)

jab lagI gAj bal apnO baratyO nEk sarayO nahin kAm
nirbal hvai balarAm pukAryO AyE AdhE nAm
until(jab lagI) the elephant(gaj) tried(baratyO) with his own(apno) effort(bal), his work(kAm) was not(nahin) successful(saryO) even the least(nEk). when he helplessly(nirbal hvai) called(pukAryO) for the lord(balarAm), he immediately came(Aye) just as Gajendra uttered half his name(Adhe nAm)

drupad sutA nirbal bhayI tA din taji Aye nija dhAm
dussAsan ki bhujA thakit bhayI vasan rUp bhayE syAm
when the daughter(sutA) of drupad became(bhayI) helpless(nirbal), that day(tA din), he left(taji) his(nij) abode(dhAm) and came(Aye) to her rescue. DushshAsan's arm(bhujA) tired down(thakit bhayI) as the lord himself(syAm) assumed(bhayE) the form(rUp) of her robe(vasan)
(many devotees have described that sri kRSNa himself became draupadi's sArI, that is why it became endless, ananta. one example that comes to mind is ny guru nAnak -
"karuNAkar draupadi pukArI, paTa me lipatA gaye banvArI")

ap bal tap bal aur bAhu bal cauthI hain bal dAm
sUr kishOr kRpa te sab bal hArE kO hari nAm
the strength of apa*, the strength of austerity(tapa), the bodily strength(bAhubala) and the fourth(cauthI) strength is(hain) money(dAm), sUrdAs says all these strengths(sab bal) are a result of the mercy(kRpA) of kRSNa(kishor), and for the one who is defeated in all ways(hArE) the only strength is the name of sri hari(harinAm)
* - will find the translation of apa soon...
(kishor literally means one who is always youthful)

Hariharan, besides the beautiful rendition of Pt. Vyas above....Sikhil Gurucharan has also sung this......http://www.hummaa.com/search/search.php ... neri+maine

You can also hear a fair number of surdas bhajans here......http://www.hummaa.com/music/artist/3293/surdas

Krishnaa, thanks for the translation - the references make it very interesting.
