Please let me have the line by line meaning (pl not word by word as i know tamil). Is the composer addressing the song to musician Tyagaraja or God Tyagaraja.

Thanks
Harish

Lakshman,
C2: vandugandu (vandu+ugandu)
C3: pAvala=poet (pAvalan drops the 'n' as it joins kunjara dAsan. One can also say pAvalan kunjara dAsan but he chose pAvala because of the ensuing words, I think).

In C2 - "nam bAlan pAlE" would actually be "nampAl anbAlE" meaning "with love/kindless towards me"

The song clearly seems to refer to the Saint Tyagaraja and not Lord Shiva.

Rajani,
Good to hear from you!

That 'SEval koDiyON aruLum peTROME' refers to murugan. Though the song is about tyAgarAja, kOTISvaraiyer will invoke murugan's blessings as well. That's why: nam tyAgarAjan aruLum peTROME, SEval koDiyOn aruLAl...

It will be nice if the title of the thread is corrected.
