The programme went off very well and the krithis were chosen in keeping with the attributes which surround Vinayaka.( I hope I am correct.)
I hesitate to review on the sahitya aspect of the krithis as I am not well versed in Sanskrit except to state that Dr. Veezhianathan"s scholarly and lucid explanation made a layman like me to take note of the context of the krithis explained.
The krithis chosen were 1)Vatapi in Hamsadwani,2)Chethasri in Dwijavanthi 3)Parameswari in Nattai 4)Kamaskshi Kamakoti peeta in Simmendramadhyamam 5)Sree lakshmi Varaham in Aboghi and 6)
Ananda amrithakarshini in Amrithavarshini.
The krithis were rendered very well by Mrs.Radha Parthasarathy and ably assisted, hold your breath by Key board Sathya and moderatorof Sangeethapriya.org Sridharan on the mirdamgam
Sathya played lilting raga alapana of Simendramadhyamam in response to Mrs. Radha"s wonderful exploit. Sridharan"s playing and his thani were of the highest order.
I am sorry i am not competent to say anything about the sahitya part as I am a layman and the explanations were simple and lucid.
The highlight of the programme was a shower of rain after the
rendition of the Amrithavarshini Thanks to sangeethapriya, moderators
,the artists, and the audience who made this a memorable
evening.

Raghavan

This was another great programme in the series. The scholarly aspects of Dr Veezhinathan was very much evident. No wonder, he was the advisor to the great MSS on sanskrit meanings and pronounciations. The interpretations and meanings that he gave are not available in standard text books. Some of the related concepts theories that he explained were taught / told to him by Paramacharya of Kanchi himself, as mentioned by Dr Veezhinathan
Radha Parthasarathy's renderings were neat, though it appeared during start of dvijavanti slokam, she took some time to show the raga bhava. In contrast Sathya was spot on and brought out the raga very well. His volume level was a bit subdued and he played in a non intrusive way. His simmendarmadyamam was very mature. I would adjudge him the man of the match. Mrudangam accompaniment was subdued, non-intrusive and adequate.
As pointed out by Ragjay, as soon as Amrutavarshini rendering started, I heard a few thunders and within 10 mins of concert ending rain started. Call it co-incidence or divine response.
PA system was very good, no screeching sounds. However volume level for Dr Veezhinathan could have been little more
Notable attendees were PS Narayanaswamy and Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam
It was announced that the the third programme in the series will be on the second/third Sunday of september 2009, to be finalised.
I urge members of this forum to attend this series as I find it very educative and enjoyable.

"It was indeed a good experience for me and i am happy that Smt. Radha Parthasarathy was comfortable on my following" was what Sathya had to tell me after his first attempt of accompanying a vocal artist. Sincere appreciations to the organisers and the team on stage to have attempted this accompanyment. The audio of this session is available in www.sangeethamshare.org which can be accessed in the folder "featured concerts" under lec-dem category titled as L0019.
Thanks to Ragjay and laks1972 for the appreciation on Sathya. It is indeed one of our attempts to take the concept of performing Carnatic music on Keyboard and i think Sathya tried his best to demonstrate same in this session.
A good audience turn out considering that it was a day of festivity and many other activities were also going on in and around Mylapore.
