I would say it was a brilliant concert by both Vidushis. Both Shanmugapriya and Shankarabharanam were sung with utmost classicism brilliant manodharma especially neraval for shanmugapriya.
Kalpanaswaras ending in ND. Shankarabharanam Swarams at navartrimahotsavam kalpanaswaras at SRS. MAK provided a brilliant support and Balajis thani was to be appreciated as he really followed the pattern of manodharma of the singing artists.
A word about Suguna Puroshothamans' composition has to be specially said: good lyrics excellent musical presentation with laya, a nice treat to the ears. I would appreciate if she really makes an effort to bring all her compositions in book format with notations so that music students can learn and sing them in concerts. The manoharimala comprising of devamanohari, jayamanohari, saraswatimanohari and ramamanohari was really good and made me think of ranjani mala by TSSanakaran Iyer.
To conclude this concert will be in my memories for a longtime, if not forever.

One of the best concerts by two giants of this music field. I really enjoyed being on stage with them. Their laya control, their shruthi shuddha, their creativity and patanthara shuddha all are praiseworthy. Suguna Purushothaman madam always has some new ideas up her sleeves. In the main kriti she sang swaraprasthara after 4 beats in Adi 2 kalai giving a lead pattern for me that which i continued and played till the mohara which was appreciated by Member Chandar in his review.
MAK was sweetest yesterday and the tone was excellent. Suguna Varadachari and Suguna Purushothaman did extremely well in swaraprasthara by alternating a few combinations and creating nice rhythmic patterns.
As chandar pointed out one of the best concerts in the recent times and will linger for long.

I think this is the first occurence of a neraval for a bharathiyAr krithi, I have not heard even one even thru grapevine. I think bharathiyAr's lines are punched with so many neraval lines , that no one felt like singing that , noteworthy neraval(If some one else has sung a neraval for a bharathiyAr ever , please let me know). Also would love to hear manohari ragamaliga composition.chandar wrote: Items sung

Wanted to hear this concert as I have only heard them as singular sugunA , but not plural sugunA yet.

Looks like the dEvaranAma in the above song list is rAmakRShNaru manege bandaru bAgila tereyire.
This is a composition of Purandara dAsa I am used to hearing in sindhu Bhairavi.

Smt.suguna Purushothaman s students sang some devi kritis in Hamsadhwani in the guru sishya series.one of the kritis was sri kamakshi katakshi in vasanta. Smt.suguna said some say it is a kriti by subbaraya sastri. But she felt it was a kriti by tiruvarur ramaswami pillai as it is in many ways similar to his kriti jagadeeswari in mohanam. The word vedapureeswara seems to be his mudra. In jagadeeswari he says vedapuridasan .
