Hi all,
Can anyone tell me which thillana this is and the translation?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhBzG514oE0
(poor quality video but beautifully danced).
Also does anyone know of any audio recordings of this thillana suitable for dance available to purchase?
Thanks,
Neelima

This is not thillang at all. This is Suddha Hindolam, Adhi thalam.

And you can purchase a really good recording of it in the album, Nrityopasana - 15.
It is sung by Madurai T. Sethuraman.

Sorry, Nia Rmohan, I have to say that Ganesh is right. This is most certainly the Thilang thillana of LGR... I have learnt the very same. I have not seen it on any commercial recordings (mine was privately recorded), but one may exist.

Yes the very famous Thilanq Thillana of LGR. It's released on audio as well.

It is indeed the tillAnA by Lalgudi in tilang but some of the pallavi and anupallavi words have been changed in the video.

It is Thilang Thillana performed by Nirupama Rajendra. If I am not wrong, it is sung by Smt. Saroja Natarajan and choreographed by Late Guru. Narmada.

Here are the lyrics:
uLLam kOvil koND(u)aruL OLi veLLam pAya yevinnai iruL kaLLam
ODiDa yenai kAtt(u)aruL puLLi kaLabam tulangu kumarA
Oh murugA (kumarA), who shines resplendantly (tulangu) on a spotted (puLLi) peacock (kaLabam) [1], please make (koNDu) my heart (uLLam) your temple (kOvil) and protect (kAttu) and bless (aruL) me (yenai) so that your grace (aruL oLi) can flow (pAya) like a deluge (veLLam) even as all and any (yev) of the consequences of my bad deeds (vinai) ignorance/delusion (iruL) and untruth/lies (kaLLam) disappear (ODiDa) from my mind.
FOOTNOTE
[1] kaLabam specifically refers to the peacock's tail...

One of the few (only?) dancers I know of who is equally proficient in Bharatanatyam and Kathak, though she focuses on the latter now.
Yes, the choreography of the Thillana is by Guru Narmada.

Umesh, thanks for clarifying it...I had a feeling it might be Narmada aunty's choreography.
