Incidentally those days musicians were confident and they sing at the end "eppaDi pADinarO appaDi pADa nAn Ashai koNDEn". 
Now perhaps todays musicians are little nervous hence they sing "eppadi pAduvEnO". :rolleyes:

Yes, apparently it was the same melody all the way, with new lyrics. I'm sorry my friend did not note down any of it, but she said it was really meaningful. I'm sure your friend would have loved it. If I come across the lyrics/song recording, I will definitely post where your friend can get it.
I also heard the concert was quite well-attended. I would have liked to have heard the Javali (which I havent heard in a long time) and the Ilayaraja lyrics (that I havent heard at all). Since my friend is an ardent Unni rasika, I will probably hear it some time at some other venue.
