Prashant, I have not heard this one before. Another of Sri PS' rare gems (you do seem to have a genius for unearthing these) that pack a powerful philosophical puch:

Therefore, (please do not forget the) beautiful/red (Sen) (lotus flower-like feet of) the son/child (kuzhandai) of the Lord (paran) [4] with red (Sen) matted locks (SaDai) (who resides in pazhani) - the nephew (maruganE) of vishNu (tirumAl), the one who appeared/was formed (bhavanE) in a cluster/thicket (vana) of Sara grass, the god (dEvanE) of gods (dEvAdi), kandan, who has appeared (vandu) out of infinite compassion (irangi) so that (ena) we can think about/meditate (cintai Seyya) upon him, and reap all the benefits.

Prashant - another question - in bharatanATyam (to my very laya-challenged understanding) atIta eDuppu means that the composition starts before the first aksharam of tALa cycle, and usi is a type of atIta eDuppu that starts half a beat before. I inerpret that to mean that that other atIta eDuppus can start 1, 2, 3 etc beats before - is that correct?

For example: kumaran tAL in yadukulakAmbOdhi starts 1/2 a beat before samam. This would be atIta eDuppu [usi] as per this terminology
Same way: SivakAma sundari in mukhAri starts 1 beat before samam [or 3/4 beat depending on whose rendition you follow

Yes, of course, arasi. There is a 6 akshara kArvai between 'la' of kamala and 'pa' of pada.arasi wrote: kamala pada malar. No p between the two words.
