Small difference but the way we sang the word was as naRguNamadu (not adai)--same me meaning, but makes a difference in the flow of the line.

another such one is makkaLin; we knew it as makkaLil--makes a difference in meaning: in people we will encourage mAsilA nallozhukkam (blameless behavior). makkaLin means that they already possess this quality! kaLangamil (kaLangam illAda) aRam vaLarppOM means there is room for improvement!

pugazhdal is to praise. I hear it being sung as pugazhttiDuvOm. Is there pugazhttal too which is the same as pugazhdal?

arasi, it is 'naRguNamadai(or adu as you wrote) pughaTTiDuvOm'
meaning we will feed them with good qualities.
pugaTTuvadu as in 'pAl pugaTTuvadu, uNavu pugaTTuvadu' etc.
when we say 'makkaLin' as you rightly said it is there, but we will enhance it(vaLarppOm)
The same applies for 'kaLangamil aRam vaLarppOm' too.

Syama-priya, here is the translation:

P: koDumai shei tIyor - the evil doers
manamadu tirunda-in order to reform their minds
narguNam adai pughaTTiDuvOm-we will teach (feed) them good values
maDamai accam aRuppOm- we will chop off ignorance and fear
makkaLin mAshilA nallozhukkam vaLarppOm- we will enhance blemishless good qualities of (in) the people
diDham tarum ahimsA yOgi nam tandai AtmAnandam peravE- In order to give joy to the soul of the great ahimsa yOgi, who is our father, who gave us a brave heart
kaDamai maravOm- we will not forget our duties
avar kaDan tIrppOm-we will discharge all the debt we owe him
kalangamil aRam vaLarppOm- we will make blemishless righteousness grow
engum(shAnti nilava vENDum) Let peace prevail all around.
