On 11 October 2009, Lalgudi Music Forum organized the highly memorable "Lalgudi 80" event at Krishna Gana Sabha in Chennai to celebrate Lalgudi Jayaraman's 80th birthday. Photographs and other information about this event can be found at http://bit.ly/71KlxO Even though it is a Facebook album, it can be viewed by non-Facebook users also. Feel free to forward the link. Information on a commemorative book comprising rare photographs and articles, including a few by Lalgudi himself, that trace the violinistÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s musical journey through the decades is also included.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to see the album as a slide show even in Facebook

Typically, the right (left) arrow will go to the next (previous) photo without your having to click on the Next (Previous) link. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the photos, Mohan. Could you also give us a report on the proceedings? The speeches would have been interesting. Also, do I see the violinist VVS with LGJ in one of the photos?

Thanks for the words of appreciation. It is good to hear back.

I do have captions for some of the photos and they should be visible to everybody (i.e., to even non-Facebook users). Unfortunately, the tags that I have identifying different people in the photos is visible only if you are a Facebook user

I am not knowledgeable enough to write a report on the proceedings

Also, I didn't take any notes.

I am unable to confirm if VVS was there. Facebook users who can identify untagged people are welcome to add the appropriate tags. Thanks!

I am glad to share that the invite and commemorative volume on Lalgudi mentioned by you was printed by my husband Mudhra Bhaskar. This book will truly be a treasure for all music lovers - good articles and rare photos!

You can make a slideshow using Picasa quite easily.

Techie Hint: there is, for those who use Firefox as their browser, an add-on called Cool Iris, which allows one to view Google images, flickr, picasa, and many other photo sites as a moving wall of pics. It is a nice presentation tool, and yes, it works on Mohan's page.
