The Reethigowlai Ata Tala Varnam is a beautiful composition. Like the Mukthayi Swarams in particular. It was a good beginning to the concert. The Arabhi Krithi was rendered with a quick round of Swarams. The Dikshithar Krithi was sung well with a brief Ragam outline at the beginning that was nice. The Ragam was announced to be the equivalent of Vagadeeshwari. The pick of the concert, to me, was the Hamsanandi. The Swarams were rendered with innovative Kanakku patterns at different Eduppus in the first line. The main Kharaharapriya was good as well. The violinist's responses to the Swarams, in particular, were admirable. The Tani was fine. Liked some patterns played by the Kanjira artiste.
The Ragamalika and Thiruppugazh rounded off a short and nice concert.

Hamsanandi was unfolded in a most deliberate and sombre fashion and the kriti following was presented in the right mood. It was easily the pick of the Utsav so far (4 run-of-the-mill Simhendramadhyamams and counting already IIRC). A small gap after such bhava laden presentations is always welcome for the audience to get back in shape to enjoy the next item. In this case, I thought Thunai purindharul came too quickly.
