2. Maamava Sada Janani - Kaanada
3. Vinathasutha - Harikambhoji
4. Ennudujuthano - Kalavathy
5. Thaye Azhaipaal Dayai Seivaye - Bhairavi
He did a nerval in 'Yennaada yennam ellam yenni yenni, Yetaada Peraasai kottai katti'
6. Yennarakshiso Neenu - Shubapantuvarali
7. Niravathisukatha - Ravichandrika
8. RTP - Hamsanandi with raagamalikai swarams in Dwijavanthi, Bageshri followed by the whole bharathiyaar song

13. Oorile kaani illai (Shanmugapriya?), Kulam tharum selvam thandidum (Behag) followed by Narayananai thudhipaai in Komalaangi
14. Mangalam.
The concert was fabulous... I hadnt heard some of the songs before and one can always expect that from Sanjays concerts. Wish I could write more about each song and what the neraval swarams, thaaalam, composers were, but its a lot of typing for me!!
Look forward to the next one in Pomona Ranganatha temple on Nov 26th at 4PM.

Thanks, fuddyduddy for the list. Here are some annotations/observations:
1. The varnam was Muthiah Bhagavathar's ata tala composition: "Manamohana."
2. Swarams were sung for "Mamava sada" and neraval/swarams were done for Harikamboji and Bhairavi.
3. Pallavi was set to Adi with eduppu at a quarter before the samam.
4. Sanjay announced Kalavathi prior to singing it which had me momentarily flummoxed, as I was expecting the vivadhi or even the North Indian raga (which we refer to as Valachi). A couple of minutes into the pallavi, I remembered that Kalavati could also refer to the little known Chakravam janyam. (uuugh ... South Indians can make everything so complicated!)
5. Niravadhi Sukhada featured some chitta swarams that I've never heard before (Sanjay's own addition, perhaps?) I've heard the usual: "S,, R GMND NMDM GRSD S | ...", but Sanjay threw in a couple of extra avartanams.
6. Finally, I thought I'd share a couple of anecdotes from the concert. As Sanjay was performing neraval in the Bhairavi piece, he attempted an extravagant brigha in the upper octave that fell completely flat. He then sheepishly referred to the gaffe as 'pErAsai" which had the audience in splits over the irony of the lyric. Sanjay also had great fun with the mridangist emphasising the 'adi' part of the pallavi since the lyric corresponded exactly to the 'idi' of the talam.
Overall, I'd describe it as typical Sanjay fare (although a 'typical' Sanjay concert is almost an oxymoron): a lot of energy and variety packed in, and something for everyone from the kanakku buff to the composition connoisseur to the Hindustani ear ... but unfortunately also, a largely uncooperative voice for most part, and a penchant for sacrificing aesthetics at the altar of creativity.
PS - What is the raga Komalaangi? I just assumed that it was Tilang.

And Tilang is S G3 M1 P N2 S | S N2 P M1 G3 S ??
newyorker - observation 6 was indeed quite funny!
i like the creativity aspects and thats what draws me to Sanjay or TM Krishna concerts. Otherwise we could all get some CD's and listen to them at home. kalavathy and shubapantuvarali was aesthetically also perfect for me, and those raagas would be better that way and it seemed like sanjay was trying his creativity in the neravals, rtp raagas where one does have the freedom...

Or is it one of Ramnad (pUchi) Srinivasa Iyengar's?
I have also read that Vinata Suta vahana - Harikamboji was composed by Tiger's brother; even though it has been attributed to Thyagaraja. Another krithi composed by him is Neetu Charanamule - Simhendra Madhyamam.
There are anecdotes that Kanchipuram Naina Pillai used to sing Vinata Suta - Harikamboji. Only recording I have heard of this krithi is by Alathur Brothers.
