Days of (1940-60s) are gone when artist used to sing a tamil song in a concert out of compulsion with disinterest.
Now artist sing tamil songs out of interest and they like to sing. That is what the intention of the erstwhile
tamil isai movement and is accomplished. Thanks to Papanasam Sivan, MSS, MMI and many more.

tEmadurat tamizhOsai ulagelAm isaiyil olikkum kAlam vandadenil, rAma rAvaNar paTRiya kavalai En? tisai engaNume tamizhisaiyin innoli paraviDum enRAl, sundarat telungiRkum, kannal kannaDaththiRkkum, vaLa migu vaD mozhikkum thuNai sErumE!
If the days have come for honey sweet tamizh to be heard in music all around the world, there need be no room for the rAma, rAvaNa question. Beautiful telugu, sugar sweet kannaDa and ancient rich sanskrit will all gain good company, indeed!

I secondcmlover wrote:Bring it to the notice of Kalaignar. Persuade him to award Rs 1000/- for each Tamil song rendered in a prominent CM concert. (He may do that even privately from his unlimited source of Funds - after all he comes from the isai vELaaLa paramparai!). Also alert Kani Mozhi on this issue. Then you will see a such a flood of Tamil songs in concerts that you may have to request for non-tamil songs

CML,

Good omens: In all those concerts of Sanjay's grand tour and in concerts at home, tamizh songs abound. I see others leaning towards thm as well. Just saw Rajesh's review about break-neck speed (but remarkable) Sriram
Gangadharan's all tamizh krutis concert.
It is interesting to see that many still miss something if a concert is not loaded with Trinity krutis. A vocalist really has to be in Sanjay's league for them to overlook tamizh-heavy concerts.
I think it is happening, this trend towards tamizh songs. As for thematic concerts, they may be serving the puropse too.
Let's see what this season produces. Is my optimism realistic?
Rajesh, another topic for your analysis.

It's interesting to note that when it comes to wanting their language represented in concerts, the denizens of Kerala are the least chauvinistic from amongst the four S.Indian states. They would rather go for musical quality, rather than obsessing about language.
Hope similar enlightenment comes to others too.

To make tamizhisai more popular and acceptable to non believers in GOD(the so called rationalists). efforts were set foot to compose songs praising nature ,veeram etc and popularising them by singing in kutcheris , only very few songs like 'vennilavum vanum pole, tamarai pootha thadagamadil' came out , the rest being about divinity only gobilalitha

As for keralites, it is true that they are least bothered about a CM concert not including a song from their language. But for rare maNipravAlam song, we don't even get to hear malayALam words. Those from Andhra get to hear the most number of songs in their own language anyway because T's krutis are always there. I wish performers sing more of kannaDa krutis.
As for tamizhisai (let's look at these two words in the sense that they simply mean:songs in tamizh. Yes, songs about the Almighty (with or without including a particular god's name), songs about Nature too. After all, a song gains merit by its emotional content, pertaining to higher things than the mundane-- love (of a higher kind than what most popular cinema songs are about), those on patriotism (CML, we still need to hear them!), odes about great men and women and so on.
As for DRS's compositions, his sankEti songs bring something new to CM which never existed before while his other compositions add new ones to the already existing store of songs in kannaDa.
tamizh isai has another special need. Any sanskrit song has many words which you find in other languages (but for tamizh). Not hearing words in one's own language in a CM concert is more relevant to the tamizh speaking audience in that sense.
