Trivandrum Venkatraman - a great Veena artist - richly deserved.
Trichy Thyamanavan - Kannakol - a senior artist - staff artist @ All India Radio, Trichy. Again a very worthy artist. IIRC, his lecdem at Music Academy last year was jam packed - standing room only. He spoke with such humility.
BM Sundaram - son of the legendary Tavil vidwan - Needamangalam Meenakshisundaram Pillai. BMS used to recollect stories of concerts of Tiruveezhimizhalai Brothers, Keeranur Brothers, .... BMS has written a few books on past era Vidwans. Not sure of the "musicologist" title though ...

Sri BMS is certainly a musicologist. See some notes about him at http://www.hindu.com/2005/07/07/stories ... 970200.htmannamalai wrote: BM Sundaram - son of the legendary Tavil vidwan - Needamangalam Meenakshisundaram Pillai. Hi all brothers & sisters,
Thank you all for your kind and affectionate appreciation. In fact, even though I am, in general, against in receiving any kind of honour or title or award, as per the sincere advice of some of the connoisseurs and ardent lovers of music, I have accepted to receive it as the honour to the successful system of teaching our music. amsharma

Hi all brothers & sisters,
I am very much beholden to all of you for your kind, incessant and affectionate appreciation.
Only by the grace of the Almighty I have been able to become content, peacefully and gracefully retire not only from the Govt. service in 1996 but also even from my busy-artist-profession from 1998, authored 5 books on music of their own kind, find easy, affective and innovative methods in teaching our music to our kids successfully making it time-bound and result-oriented and also to undertake the propagation of them as my mission for the benefit of our aspirants. But for HIS grace I wouldn’t have become able to do even any one of them. That is why the entire credit goes to HIM only but not me at all.
Through the Chennai Sangita Vidwat Sabhai (The Music Academy, the great) the community of our Sangita Vidwans are very kind enough to select me for the TTK Award, thus lending me their heart-felt support in my mission which continues until my last breath in sincerely serving our aspirants irrespective of any barrier. amsharma
