The concert was preceded by a multimedia presentation on Shakti by Dr.Guha Krishnaswamy. Beginning with the invocation 'yA dEvi sarva bhUtEshu buddhi rUpENa samasthitA, namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namO namaha, the role of Shakti in Indian lore was explained.
This was followed by a memorable concert by the Carnatica brothers. As each piece was sung, the lyrics, raga, tala and composer info, meaning and anecdotes relating to the song were displayed. The concert stood out for the shruti shuddham, classicism and bhava. The lalitha alapana by Shri Shashikiran and the bhairavi alapana by both the vocalists was awe-inspiring. The main piece (bhairavi swarajathi) was sung in the mandra/madhya stAyi by Shri Shashikiran and simultaneously in the tAra stAyi by Shri Ganesh and had chauka kala kalpana swarams for each of the charanams.
One rasika aptly summed up the mood of the audience when he went up to the stage after the concert and prostrated before the vocalists!
