It was a great concert right from the word go.. The thodi outline suggested that its going to be a great concert and so was it... The Kalyaani aalaapana was well rendered with no rush. "EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED" Vasudevayani came . A masterpiece of Sri. GNB (i personally take it as a samarpan to this maestro with his centenary celebrations happening everywhere). And the neraval swaram was also perfect.. Mukhaari raagam rendered in a sedate manner and it was befitting.. Kandrin kuralai kaettu was made the first line (it is the anupallavi) and the krithi was rendered with great emotion. one could hear lots of uccch ucch sounds from the audience :).. But truly it did kindles one's emotion. the lyric blended well with the Raagam and to top it all the soulful rendition.. saketha niketana was good with pacy swaras @ the pallavi.. The concert was all set for the Main raagam to begin.. It was Mohanam.. The raagam neraval swaram was perfect.. The violinist needs mention here .. His mohana raaga was quite superb , sticking to the vocalist's mood of elaboration.. its a great quality.. The thani was good started with chatusram and moving on to thisram and finally a korvai from samam to edam (6thalli).. Both the percussionists made a good use of the tempo and the mood set by the vocalist.. there was only one problem. As i was sitting in the last row i could'nt hear the kanjira while he was accompanying the violin turns.. The goosebumps time arrived.. :).. tamil virutham in ragaas such as Saveri , Dhanyasi , behag .. just IMAGINE.. it was awesome.. and suiting the mood Irakkam varaamal (my fav from KVN) was rendered well. I was expecting a Lalgudi sir thillaana. But the curtains started to unfold as he was finishing Irakkam varaamal.. Overall a Great concert.. Kudos to saketh and his team..

An excellent concert and I loved the Mohanam kriti. I did attend his concert last year at the same venue. What a difference in a year? Saketharaman has taken his talent a few more notches. Wish him the very best this season and the ones to come. Excellent post by aDana.

I felt Sakethraman had voice problems that day. There were several sruti lapses, esp. in the neraval and swaram passages of Kalyani.

I really loved the Mukhari, esp. the kriti rendition.

read the Hindu review.. First of all the reviewer must have known or atleast enquired the name of the kanjira artiste. It was not sundarkumar.. it was hariharasharma... That apart the review was NORMAL
