It was a wonderful presentation by the duo !! Kudos to them first !

Its needless to say about the GNB varnam...One can not expect a brighter start in the afternoon specially !! Neraval for "Margazhi Thingal" was done at "Narayanane..." and the swarams at "Margazhi thingal" .

Ganesh sang a crisp Devamanohari....and the Violinist, Ajit kumar's essay of the ragam was equally pleasing. One great thing about the violinist is, he never over shot his time...never played very long essays of ragam, swaram, neraval or thanam....which really has to be appreciated.

The kuntalavarali song was a fast paced one....consisted of a garland of wonderfully set chittaswarams. Ganesh later announced that the tune to the song was set by Shashikiran !

Shashikiran went on to sing the raga alapanai completely for Sriranjani....Violinist's sriranjani was very good as well !!

The tanam was shared by both Shashikiran and Ganesh, in Sriranjani, Sri and Ranjani ragams.

"Sogasuga mrudanga thaalamu sriranjani raga bharitha" was the pallavi line. They sang the right amount of neraval and swarams for the pallavi line, with ragamalika swarams in Janaranjani and Ranjani.

Trivandrum Vaidyanathan gave superb support to the brothers through out the concert and his thani was good too !

The sahana krithi was very melodious !

The thillana was a GRAND one with ragams durbari kanada, bilahari, kapi, behag and madyamavathi. Each stanza was in a different thalam...began with adi, moved on to rupakam, mishra chapu , kanta chapu...and the final series of swarams traversed in the reverse order throuth the ragams and corresponding thalams !!

The audio was well balanced !!

Overall, a BRILLIANT concert by the entire team !!

You left out one tala in the thrillana (my word for a Ravikiran tillana) sequence...sankeerna chappu with nine beats.

Lakshman-ji, here's the pallavi lyric:

manamOhanA mayilvAhanA
kandA meghavarNa
madhusUdanA mukundA

The lyricist is Dr.Brazil Subramaniam; it was tuned by Shashi sir.

I attended this one and liked the contrasting voices and styles of the singers. Mr. Shashikiran seemed to have a deeper and richer voice and Mr. Ganesh's voice was softer and smoother. I liked the blend of the two. The varied range they possess must also be an advantage for a duo. Shashikiran's anchored notes and Ganesh's mobility offered an enjoyable mix.
