It was an engrossing beginning with a nice round of Swarams in all Ragams of the Ragamalika Varnam. The Gaulai second day Thiruppavai and Ganamurthe were rendered well. Vijayasarawathi Alapanai was good, the violinist's version here was very nice too. The rather lesser heard Dikshithar Nattikurinji Krithi was sung well with nice Swaram rounds at Sharavanabhava Guru Guham. There were good patterns developed here with Swarams in first speed and the Eduppu Sahithyam sung in second speed and vice versa. Varali was sung well. The Swarams were very nicely done here as well both by the vocalist and violinist in tandem at Nee Padambuja with patterns such as GMP, MPD, PD Nee Padambuja and a bit of Kanakku improvisation on those patterns. The Tani was rather energetic and good.

The pick of the concert personally was the appreciably long round of Swarams for Margahindolam. There was a very good flow here and spontaneous creativity was praiseworthy.

The RTP was rendered elaborately for over an hour with Ragam for about 18 minutes (inclusive of violin return) and a Tanam with Mrudangam accompaniment of about 8-9 minutes. The Pallavi with a challenging Eduppu, set to Misra Triputa was rendered with Trikalam and extensive Layam permutations and the violinist's replies here were wonderful. The Ragamalika Swaram suite was a bit different. There were several Ragams - atleast 10 or so and I didn't note them down. But it felt good to hear heavy Ragams such as Bhairavi, Thodi, Saveri, Keeravani, Shanmukhapriya et al in a Ragamalika suite.

Post Tani, liked the Kapi and Sindubhairavi.

Overall, a nice concert for over 3 hours with an elaborate Pallavi rendition and a round of Margahindolam Swarams that would stay on for quite a while in memory.

I so much wanted to attend this concert but for the heavy rains too. Wondering why its not a july music season or september music season rather than december music season when its really raining cats and dogs here in chennai, making it difficult to attend many concerts :-(

yeah me too...i also missed a good one...i hope to catch GG in concert in the days to come in this season...three hours concert are more solid as you may hope to expect rtp and a main item too, which could be more wholesome...
