Ravikiran was accompanied by Akkarai Subbalakshmi on the Violin, TVG on the Mridangam and Tripunithura Radhakirishnan on the Ghatam
The concert started with Saraseeruhasanapriye i8n Natai followed by a soulful alapana of Mukhari and Brahmakadigina padamu of Annamacharya. This was followed by alapana of Lalitha which was very elaborate and traversed the entire gamut of the raga. Hiranmayim followed with nerval in Geetha vadhya vinodini and swarprastaras in two kalams. Next he took up Dwijavanthi. After a detailed alapana he played a kriti of Uthukadu Venkata subbaiyer. He sang the pallavi for information of the audience. This was followed a beautiful rendition of O Jagadamba in which elaborate kalpana swaras in two kalams were executed. This was followed by thani. After Sudhamayee in Amrithavarshini, a majestic kambodi was played and a pallavi in Khanda triputa in khanda nadai was played. He sang the sahithyam of the pallavi also. The concert concluded with a javali.
It was a scholarly concert that is always expected from Ravikiran. The music was thoroughly enjoyable and the accompanists provided good support in embellishing the concert.

Was not the Amritavarshini piece ' Ennai nee maravadhe ".I am also quite doubtful since I was at the canteen.Munching hot dosa and listening to RK's Kambodhi alapanai was a fabulous experience.

It was a wonderful concert.Enjoyed every phrase of it.

THe Dwijavanti kriti was set on a rare talam of 18 beats;the name was mishra ata thalam ?

It was a wonderful cocnert right from the word GO. I particularly enjoyed the extensive lalitha with my all favourite Hiranmayim. The dwijavanthi alapanai and kriti was also extremely enjoyable not to forget the majestic kambhoji..A great concert from one of the greatest...

I thought I heard Anandabhairavi and I'm glad The Hindu confirmed it today. There was so much 'sowkhyam' in that. I came away with absolute calm after the concert. The next step in genius is when you don't need to exhibit everything you know and play for the moment!
