Dear Rasikas,
A brief description of what to expect from the speakers on 20th follows:
The order & subject matter have been arranged to cover M.SS./T.S in a roughly chronological order with overlapping to his other observations expertise on the part of the speakers.
We start with Ramesh- M.K.Ramasubramanian who knew the pair at a personal level in a very close fashion. He will address that part as well as the musical aspects etc. He is the OVERALL EXPERT.
Next Sekhar who was the "Asthana Vidwan" of Kalki Gardens & knew them equally well- he is younger brother of Ramesh & BOTH are children of T.S.Mahadevan&Chinnani Mami- will adress aspects from an accompanists point of view in addition to his intimate knowledge of happenings esp. in Chennai.
VKV follows them; While he knew them in India in a different fashion he was almost FULLY aware& INVOLVED AT VARIOUS LEVELS of practically everything starting with the famous tour in '66 till the very end. His brother Dr.VKB was also in an honorary advisory role. VKV is hoping to straighten out the major falsehoods that are circulating in printed books as well as general gossip; Also as a scientist he will make a case for the Brain-Mind Connection & how it has enabled M.S.S. to be in his opinion the greatest vocalist from India at least in the twentieth century.
Cleveland VVS was also intimately involved with the pair especially from the '76-'77 US tour & knows details many things not known to others. In addition VKV has requested him to describe& update the logic, methods as well as details of the Cleveland Festival so EVERYONE can hear it from the proverbial "Horse's mouth" as opposed to second& third hand information& speculation.
Of course we are looking forward to meeting the members& others; Hopefully the Q&A will clear many things.....VKV

VKV sir,

Sruti may have not logged off when you got on. Many times the system leaves you logged on even if the browser is closed. always as a habit check to see if you are logged on as yourself if you are using the system in a friends home.

I would like to know last minute confirmation of the Rasikas who are attending the get together meeting at my residence on 20.12.2009 [Sunday]. This will facilitate me ordering sufficient No. of lunch packets.

Kindly send your confirmatory mail to me through Rasikas.Org mailer.

Medium sized hall is available at my home. Barring a few senior citizens others may have to sit in the floor. I hope Rasikas may adjust with this arrangement. Rasikas who feel that they cannot sit comfortably with their pants on may bring a Dhoti and change to dhoti during the meet.

Pray for sunshine at least on 20.12.2009 [Sunday].

Academy canteen / early morning @ kapaleeswarar temple rounding off with narada gana sabha woodlands or karpagambal .. just a suggestion from my end ..

early morning was just a suggestion , since most of us would be free and an early morning get together ( as against late morning or evening one) also gives the possibility of not missing out on our favourite artiste's concert late in the day . Ofcourse if good number of people turn up , then sacrificing a concert for a rasikas meet isnt a big deal after all ..

I am planning to in Chennai for 4/5 days from this week end. Early morning meeting would be great. Last year some of us met for the margazhi bhajans inKapaleeswarar Temple.( It was me, Ravi, Vijay and Bhilahari). We rounded off with breakfast at MA. The Parvathi Nayagane sung by oneothe group- I still recall from memory and enjoy.

If we meet we can roundoff with a visit to Mami Kadai (!!!)as recommended insome other thread.

It was nice to see Arasi, Cool, Keerthi of Rasikas members dduring some of my concerts and other also. Arasi was all praise for my playing at quite a few places including academy and was thouroughly enjoying the concert of Sanjay at Parthasarathy swamy sabha. I could see her gleaming with joy at the phrases of sanjay's ethereal kambhoji and fitting and superlative reply by varadarajan.

Hope to meet more rasika members....
