What an amazing concert!..

I have heard a few concerts by this vidwan but, truly this was a gem. It was evident that the presence of eminent vidwan Shri P S Narayanaswamy spurred Shri Venkatraman on through the performance and the see the banter between both during the performance was heartwarming and kept things interesting.

The ragas chosen included Begada, Devaghandhari, Poorvikalyani, Hindolam (at the request of PSN Sir), Bhairavi (Main - absolutely amazing!).

Post the main, Venkatraman Sir played a scintillating Sindhubhairavi which spanned only a couple of minutes, but in that few minutes he some amazing phrases, rarely heard. He drew a rousing applause for this, especially from PSN Sir.

- Thanayuni Brova - Bhairavi - Adhi
- Vishveshwara - Sindhubhairavi - Rupakam.

Apologise for my scatter-brained post. Just felt I had to get this down in a post as it was a memorable moment for me this season.

I attended this concert partially. Sri. Venkataraman started with mayamalava gowlai keerthana - in adi 2 kalai. After ni vAda ne gAna in sArangA, mama played thanavaritha in bEgadA. There was hamirkalyAni keerthana (adi 2 kalai). There was a devagandhari keerthana in rupaka talam. I left after purvikalyani alapana. It was a great concert, hard to hear these days. Full of bhavam and sowkyam.

It was a wonderful concert. All pieces were brilliant and presented amazingly. Very sensible accompanists. Great concert.
