It was a nice concert pivoted around two seldom heard Ragam expositions that were very satisfying. Both the Karnaranjani and Kunthalam Alapanais were very well executed. The SRGMGP centred Prayogams in Karnaranjani were done neatly and the entire sketch stuck to the domains of the Ragam. The Dikshithar Kunthalam Krithi was very neatly done as well. The violinist's Ragam version here was wonderful.
Dasharathe is always a personal favourite of mine. The Thodi was elaborated at leisure in all its beauty, for around 12-13 minutes. The pick of the concert to me was the Neraval at Bhodhinchina done spreading over the entire line. The second speed Neraval and the the Swarams in particular were very nice. The Tani was short and good. Post main, the Lalitha Krithi was a request. The Kalyanavasantham song was announced to be a composition of Smt Rajee Krishnan (arasi), who was present in the audience.

A big Thank You! to Gayathri Girish for singing inRu varuvAnO? with feeling and in an elaborate way. What I told Rajesh was that she sang it along with verses of BArati and AzhvAr which meant that I was in august company, but there it stops!
Nevertheless, GG gave the song all the care and made it sound very nice. More than that, I appreciate her generosity in writing to me and offering me the choice of one of my songs--will sing it in the concert you come to, she said. I was grateful, but asked her to sing the one which would suit her repertoire she had in mind for the one I was going to attend.
Rajesh-my soothsayer called the kalyAna vasantam song my flagship song, and his words always come true
However, Sumitra Nitin sang Unnai ninaindE, engu pArtAlum and Adip pADi during the season of which I got to hear two. She sings them so well--we are a team--and it is nice to hear other skilled vocalists sing them too. Suryaprakash sang inRu varuvAnO? too at Parthasarathy Sabha.
Once again, thanks, Gayathri!

Some time last week the hindu had reviewed sumitra's concert and there was a passing mention of engu PArtAlum and the reviewer wrote it was more like ennEramum of GKB. Happy to hear that uNNai ninainDE(punnagavarAli) , to me in first pass of listening to cd only your kalyanavasantham and punnagavarAli registered the most.
