In this review of Kiranavali's concert there is mention of "Nene mandhunamuddubala of Dharmapuri Subbarayar in Misra Mukhari"

Does anyone know what Misra Mukhari sound like?

'misra' means it can sound like anything or at least that's how the term is widely used
