I haven't stopped attending "this season's" concerts yet! ;)

However, if I have to vote on so far, I think I have to go for R Vedavalli on 24 December at Raga Sudha, closely followed, although preceded by one day in time, by Suguna Purashotoman (forgive mangled spelling please), same place.

Somebody had picked 'Sanjay at Kalarasna' as one of the best concerts !! it was probably the worst concert of the season for Sanjay..

My order

Malladi brothers at Kalarasna
Sanjay at Karthik Fine Arts
Ranjani Gayathri at Music Academy

My list:

- Malladi Brothers @ Narada Gana Sabha

- Sikkil Gurucharan@ Narada Gana Sabha

Best "New Finds":

- Savita Narasimhan- I've heard/read a lot abt this artist. Glad to have attended her concert @ MA. Very good concert planning, lot of sowkyam and loved it!

- V Shankaranarayanan -Thanks to my dad for the pointer. Absolutely powerful concert. sings with a lot of manodharmam and what a voice!

I would give the top place to Smt. Parasala Ponnammal's concert at MA . Absolutely soul touching & serene music. No fanfare & frills, but solid & un-diluted classical music at its best. All the more astonishing at her age.

VKR - Pl read my review of Brinda Manickagachagam in Kapali fine arts! She is definitely my find of the season!!A student of suguna varadachari mami - nice patantaram, manodharmam and powerful voice. She is just in 2nd year of her engineering graduation....Heard that she is non-brahmin, and that should no way come into her musical career.

Apart from above topic, i am also impressed by Trichy Pradeep kumar, another find of the season.

I missed out hearing Ramakrishna murthy, will hunt for his music in sangeethapriya / youtube etc. Heard Sandeep Narayanan, looks promising, but mostly on sanjay lines...

On other regular performers, upcoming artists- my award would go to K.Gayathri, Pantula Rama & Sumitra Vasudev

On super seniors, hard to choose -award goes to all stalwarts - Suguna Purushottaman, Nedunuri Garu, Kalpagam Swaminathan, Rama Ravi, Ponnamaal , Tvm Venkataraman mama, vedavalli mami.... all these concerts were top class

I reached Chennai only on Jan 02,2010 and could attend only afew concerts. Of these. I would rate the one by Sri R.K. Srikantan, acompanied by Ravi Kiran on Chtra Vina and UKS on Mridangam at Krishna Gana Sbha on Jann 02 as the best.
