On an unmusical note, I have always failed to understand why cameras, domestic equipment designed for outdoor use, are not weatherproof as standard! Hope your camera can be resurrected when it dries.

Kedharam,
Just saw these! We miss your reviews but thanks for sharing at least the lovely visual impressions of the concerts you attended. I was there at a couple of venues. Had I known you were a photographer too, I would have recognized you and would have said hello. You are truly talented and we know only of your writing and picture-taking!
As you know perhaps, Vijay is our other reviewer-photographer.

mahavishnu, VK RAMAN, vijay my pleasure.

nick, it was my mistake to lug it around without its case"¦here is the scoop behind this mishap"¦after being subjected to full body search at the academy a few times - granted I look like a sneaky character with a back pack/camera, accessories, sabha schedules - they should have eased on me when they found out that their suspicion is unfounded. one fine day, I decided to look cool"¦donned my finest kurta with my camera on my shoulder"¦and this time I got an easy entry but they forced me to get permission from the artistes to click some shots and the torrential rain caught me totally unawares and even my silk kurta couldn’t protect it"¦now it is with the professionals"¦it is tough to terminate the bonding I developed with my camera"¦

arsai, yes it seems like a bad miss...it was tough to find internet center that are open into the night coupled with my exhilaration/exhaustion"¦whatever I wanted to convey didn’t come out right...a classic case of mind/body disconnection"¦took a hiatus from displaying my literary handicap:) in all glory"¦yes, I will be back with a vengeance:) once the cleveland aradhana starts"¦

Hi Kedharam! Enjoyed seeing your photos, thanks for posting them. My own, less professional looking than your, still photography summary of the 2009 Chennai music season is available for viewing by following the links in my Rasikas.Org posting at http://bit.ly/7UuFQg I took those photos using a Canon S90 (high end of the point and shoot variety that goes into one's pant pocket nicely) that I acquired just before leaving for India on my December trip (i.e., I have not yet figured out all the neat features of the camera!). I didn't use a stand and most concert photos were taken with the flash turned off.

Glad to hear it, and may others please note and follow the example :)

Kedharam,
I do not remember the flash going in the two venues where you took the pictures. Then, I would have found you! A couple of flashes, while distracting, are tolerated by me. A series of them irritate me. The Srivalsan Menon concert at MFA was such a good one and a never ending series of flashes distracted me from my involvement with the music.
