tani
srI satIsha - khamAs - tisra Adi
nArayaNa namO namO - senjuruTTi - Adi

It was a very beautiful concert. The main artist did a great job in choosing all rare compositions and presenting them all very effectively and touching those who attended the concert. The AlApanais of kalyANi and kIravANi were crisp and the svarams were measured. The sAvEri was pretty elaborate with neraval and svarams and it was very good. The kritis were all nicely rendered. Multiple caraNams were rendered for many kritis and one of them even had a nice cittai tooo. The accompanists were all very good and gave perfect support to the concert over all.

Though just an hour and half, it was a very fulfilling concert.

bharat: many thanks for the "alert" - I will of course stay tuned for the AIR broadcast on the 19th! Rama mami learnt select compositions from the late Manchala Sri. Jagannatha Rao. I'm really thrilled about the upcoming program. Thanks again!

I m told Rama mami had specially got around to learning most of these compositions for this occasions. Apparently she went around looking for rare songs in classical ragams and got authenticated lyrics from TTD office and learnt the songs for the occasion.

A wonderful concert.

The alapanas were sleek and to the point. She is able to cover all the 3 octaves and bring the beauty of the ragas in just 3-4 mins.RR has a clean voice that is elegant as well as feminine.

Telisithe mokshamu is being sung by artists in various ragams like SRJ sings in Kanada and Priya sisters in Shubha Pantuvarali.

As I was expecting a typical kutcheri fare from Smt Rama Ravi with varnam, kritis of trinity, a couple of padams (of course) and a javali, I must admit I was disappointed to some extent!!

But the thematic programme was excellent with songs in various hues. The Bahudari piece (tuned by Nedunuri?) deserves to be absorbed in the routine concert circuit by our musicians. Saveri aalaapana was grand.

Was it that Nandita (her daughter) couldn't accompany due to AIR's strictures of gradation?
