Congratulations to all awardees!

Some call outs in addition to the ones noted above:

Nice to see Sri Panigrahi (husband of the late Smt. Samjukta Panigrahi) recognized for his service to oDissi music.

Both Sri Ilayaraja and Sri A. R. Rahman get the PB...

Smt. YGP gets one - PS...

Did not recognize any bharatanATyam dancers...

I'm very happy to hear that. Congratulations to UKS.

I'm happy to hear about Smt YGP too. Apart from her involvement with music, what little I've read about her life suggest she is quite some lady :)

Good to see the grand dame of the Hindi film industry (Zohra Segal) up there for the Padma Vibhushan. She is touching 98 now.

Looks like none selected for Padma Sri from Tamil Nadu in the Arts category, which is surprising

The rest of india (other than few pockets of southindia , few scanty pockets in cities other than southindia) may know about mrudhangam and the doyen UKS Sir. Rest of India will just turn their heads and start getting into listening carnatic concerts because of UKS sir getting this coveted padmA vibushan.

Also I am very very very elated to hear isignani illayarAjA and AR rehman to get padma bhushan.

What better person to receive this award for his vast contribution to mrudangam and that too a performer of verve even today.Sivaraman sir simply blows me away by his physical appearence as much as he blows my mind with his high octane and trailblazing garland of rhythms.

My hearty congratulations if you are looking at this may you still give us more of your inspiration to us so mere mortals like us will start thinking for a change.

UKS' thani avarthanam videos on Youtube are responsible for my exposure to his musical prowess - and since I discovered them, I have been listening to several recordings/concerts of BMK and others with who he has performed. I think this award is a fitting embellishment to his stellar percussion career. Congratulations to Sri UKS!
