I wish Abhishek GREAT SUCCESS in this exploration journey.

Keep up the hard work, young man!!
Actually, if you were to believe the tripe that is written on this site, everybody and his brother-in-law is using nagaswaram pidis in his alapanas.

It is just that all of you nagaswaram pidi lovers haven't shown up at a single one of the nagaswaram concerts organized by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha or by Brahma Gana Sabha.

If you have, you haven't bothered to write reviews about it.

Maybe I would see someone here saying that Injikkudi Subramaniam or Mambalam Siva was emulating the great Sanjay Subrahmaniam and employing vocal music pidis!

My personal opinion is that 90% of you think that if a phrase lasts longer than 5 seconds, it is a nagaswaram pidi. I don't think you would recognize a nagaswaram pidi even if either a nagam or a swaram bit you in the ankle!
At last harimau to the rescue. Members, kindly don't get the impression i hate abhishek. As a matter of fact i listen to abhishek as well . Nagaswaram music is entirely ignored because of the various Sanjays and T.M.K'S and other Showstealers that nagaswaram music might even become a forgotten art. Once again people in this forum are either praising or hating for which i have already replied that both of these will never work out. This is not constructive reviewing

As for your thoughts regarding the same theermanam etc, TR Mali used to pretty much play a small selected assortment of thyagaraja krithis, and he always played Vatapi routinely. Many of his rasikas would ask him why he repeated the same krithi, and his answer was that he was trying to play it perfectly atleast once in his life...
T.R mali sirs answer is an intended joke and not meant to be taken seriously as anyone who reads it can clearly see and i can't inderstand what you have written first. i am saying he sang the same hamsadwani that he sang in academy 2 yrs ago including mrudangam playing was exactly the same. if you have the video you can very well check it with the available audio of his previous concert. Singing the same krithi is a lot different than singing the same phrases, same handmade sangathis, same korvais, same theermanam. i only wrote that to say that somebody in this forum mentioned that he sang three diff kalyanis without a phrase being repeated that just creates hype rather than pure analysis as we all know a raga contains the basic swaras that everybody sings and repetition of phrases is inevitable.

if you cannot point out a deficiency it only tells you don't know what a deficiency is and as such your knowledge has stopped to a certain level and staying there indefinitely waiting for the next babaji to come and enlighten you(just kidding about the enlightment part of course).

Yes abhishek is a good up coming singer and there are several like him as well. only like i said a few balamuralis, abhisheks, gurucharans are highlighted as for others their concert halls invite only the lost souls of music and not a single living being. That goes for nagaswaram music as well which we only listen to when we attend marriage functions. Even then we go there only to eat.

Perhaps if sanjay actually did a concert with thavil accompaniment and otthu for sruthi or if T.m.k introduces mallari as main in his concert nagaswaram music might be rejuvenated as we all know music is currently restricted to them alone and a few snake charmers and cow herderies.

This is an open forum. There will be mixed opinions always - not only on this thread but on anything. We have seen this happening earlier also, where the same artist was disparaged/praised and in the case of others too.

So stay calm, friend..
