small corrections:
pEr (though the meaning is intact with peyar)
ugaLa (gudittal, pAidal) Ongu perum sennel UDu--beautiful imagery--such lush paddy standing in a flooded field where fish swim around with abandon.
nIngAda Selvam (endlesss wealth)
niRaindElOlembAvAi!
Eludal= iyaludal; that it is is possible, may it happen! tatAstu! as every song ends in tiruppAvai.

nIngAda selvam could also be taken as "wealth forever with you" (azhivillAda sottu)
In general, in all tiruppAvai verses the ending has to be properly understood by parsing the words at the right place.
El in general means "so be it"
Or is mute (asaic col)
embAvAy = my dear girl! (called viLi)
All the 30 songs in tiruppAvai are intended to exhort the young maidens to observe the austerity rites in the month of mArgazhi (akin to KAtyAyini vratam in the north) for obtaining good husbands for them in the material sense. Ultimately all the appeals are to serve the Lord.

PS; I am writing the compound word as "embAvAy" from em + pAvAy. The vallinam "p" assumes a soft sound "b" while coming after a mellinam consonat in this case.

Our esteemed cmlover may add credence to this type of usage!

When I hear this song, I am reminded of "Crazy"Mohan. It seems when he was touring the US for his "Juracic Baby" drama, he was travelling along an interstate when he noticed a huge billboard for a beer commercial featuring a hunk of a man with a bottle in his hand with no clothing on the upper body. He immediately remarked, "Look at that, 'Ongi ulagaLanda uttaman bare body'..."

Just to add to mahAkavi's post.

nIngAda selvam - in reality (aka svApadESartam) dAsya gnAnam - SeSatvam.

ANDAL and her friends were (re)enacting (anukArippu) what the gOpikAstri had done in SrImad bhAgavatham. SrI sukhAchAryA explains this in the 22nd chapter of the 10th Canto of SrImad bhAgavatam. This is the chapter of gOpastri vastrApaharaNam.

The first SlOkA goes...

hEmantE pratamE mAsE nandavraja kumArikAyAm
chEruhu haviSyam bhunjAnAhA kAtyAyani archana vratam.

Meaning: SrI SukhAchAryA says "Young unmarried girls, during the first month of hEmanta mAsA, the tamizh month mArgazhi, prepare themselves to perform the kAtyAyani vrtam by eating haviSyam (A mixture of rice and mUng dAl cooked in boiling water, simply know as pongal in tamil)".

While in Tiruvembavai the maidens ask Shiva to grant them good husbands who are devoted to Him, the girls of Tiruppavai seek Lord Krishna to be their lord/husband.

I agree. In my previous post the parenthesis should have been placed at the end of that sentence, meaning the kAtyAyani vratam's purpose was to get good husbands. It was a slip.
As mentioned in several of the tiruppAvai songs, the word "paRai" means the benefit of service to the Lord. That is what ANDAL and the girls seek. Only in one song (mAlE maNi vaNNA) "paRai" means the literal "drum".
