The Bangalore weather seemed to have given Mr.Siva a terrible cold and cough, but even that couldn't come in the way of a beautiful performance. All the pieces were rendered very well. The Raagam taanam in Kamboji was very well done. Charulatha Ramnaujam in top form, gave apt support. The swara vistaram in Bowli, Hamirkalyani and Kathanakuthuhalam were exquisite. The whole RTP brought an immense sense of joy to the audience. Overall, an excellent concert.
P.S.
1. The thani happened just about an hour into the concert. The audience reaction was funny to say the least. The people who usually leave during the thani were in a kind of dilemma because they didn't know if they were supposed to leave soon. Some very bewildered expressions I got to see. And this actually meant that no more than five or six people left the hall during the thani.
2. The Kannada piece 'Guruvina gulama' had been sung earlier(for Jaya TV's Margazhi Utsavam) by Siva with terrible pronunciation mistakes. Was pleased to see that he had corrected his errors this time around. When I spoke to him after the concert, I mentioned that I was very impressed that he had taken the pains to correct himself. He said 'Oh, naan mistakes ellam nariyya pannuven. But, I am fortunate enough to have people who do not hesitate to point them out to me, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to correct them.'

Haha, thanks for the correction. I named the song from what I heard Mr.Siva pronounce it as. Guess that's one more thing for him to correct!

This is why I feel it's a good idea to have a thani for the submain too, in a submain-main concert (just like we have two tanis in concerts with a main and an RTP).

Oh yes, my mistake!
It did sound quite a bit like Bhairavi. Both janyas of Natabhairavi aren't they?

Bhairavi and Manji are allied ragas. Quite difficult to find out unless the singer makes a genuine effort. I am sure VS would have sung it well. But, the ragas are indistinguishable for the lay listener.
