It was a good concert. The AlApanais of vardhani and ravikriyA were both done well. The kharaharapriyA and hamsAnandi were both presented excellently. There was a good mix of rare and known pieces in the concert. The pallavi was rendered with exceptional control and there were svarAksharams all over. Smt. Sudharani also explained that during the grahabEdam from hamsAnandi to hindOLam omiting the shadjam of hamsAnandi, except for the shift of shadjam to the hamsAnandi rishbam, all the other notes retain their frequency and name as such for the new scale to get the new rAgam.
The accomapanists were wonderful. A good concert

Seems a little funny, given that there are no pratimadhyama rAga-s in hindolam's murchana cycle.rbharath wrote:Manda Sudharani - R K Shriram Kumar - N Manoj Siva - V Anirudh Athreya

Could she have been referring to the Northern RAga HindOL..? It practically has the same scale as sunadavinodini, and can arise out of Ri omission in hamsAnandi.

Intriguing and interesting
Hamsanandi S R1 G3 M2 D2 N3 S' -->(omitting S) R1 G3 M2 D2 N3 --> (making R1 as S becomes)
S G2 M1 D1 N2 = Hindolam...

But Hamsanandi to Hindolam has been done a lot of times in the past right?

Bharath,
Thanks for the review. Still haven't had a chance to hear Manda Sudharani. Isn't her style the same as of Pantula Rama's?
The vardhani song manasA mana sAmarthya--I heard for the first time from Pantula Rama this season and it was a fine one.

laks 1972,
Thanks for promptly bringing Manda Sudha Rani's music and for your essay on her MA concert AND your blog which I am looking at for the first time. A find, indeed. hAsyam about twitter a la vaLLUvar kept me laughing.
Yes, Manda Sudharani is remarkable. She reminds me very much of Pantula Rama. Vaguely remember something about their running a school together (?). They are similar but have their own stamps too, I think.
Thanks Sarma. Will listen to what you have posted and I will get to know her music even more.

The concert links dont seem to work, for the concert in Vijayagopal's page?
I wish Charsur or Rajalakshmi audio would bring out some concerts of this artist.
