I joined at the end of gowlai . Brinda has lot of pluses and few minuses . She is young and this is my third concert of hers .

Many Pluses of BrindA:

+ Emotive quotient is generally high and her diction is really superb , karadu muradAnA thamizh or really difficult sanskrit both she seems to cruise in style , a very matured singer far far higher than what her age in the stage

+ Always takes few rare krithi. In today's concert her sudda sArang was by some contemporary thamizh composer and this MD kalyAni I have not heard at all.

+ Her alApanas and swaras are well rounded in general , she indeed gives lot of voice strength to her sangathis and most of the time (not all the time)those sangathis are well rounded.

+ Her layam sense is very matured , though this could be debated as I am not very layam centric rasika but certainly she pays lot of attention to it , the percussionist did indeed adjust well

Few Minuses of BrindA:

- What all is there in ones head need not come out all out thru her music, at few places she is just too fast and for few sangathis she loses her shruthi as she rushes quiet a bit.

- At few places she loses vocal stamina a bit ,in the first half I spotted it more , but post main she appeared well charged .

About the accompanist:

This young akkarai swarnalatha is just becoming a carbon copy of her elder sister . She also errs on the side of proportion as most of her alApana are longish just like her sister , but certainly there is a very high shruthi and tonal clarity.Both the mridangist and kanjira artist gelled well .B.Srivatsan is sishya of guruvayoor durai I think and the sound at times was not that adequate . The kanjira artist udupi??? was a shade younger than the mridangist and he played appropriately with right silence .

Overall the collective age of all 4 should be not more than 80 , but they gave a very satisfying concert . Brinda is certainly a rising star with high classical touch.Overall a very good concert for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
