S-P - If interested, here is the meaning - I had translated this some time ago and found this in my notes. In this composition, Sri OVK describes a weary yaSOdA who has 'had it' with krishNa, his antics and the complaints she hears about his behavior, snapping at some poor hapless damsel who dares to speak up in his defence....

You (nI) are the only person (tAn) who can (vENDum) appreciate (meccikoLLa) this prankster of ours (engaL), the blue (nIla nira)-complexioned (mEni) mAdhavan, whose antics (Seivadu) are such that even a minute (nimisham) moves (pOvadu) as slowly as an eon (yugamAi Agudu)!

In the anupallavi, yaSOdA describes the antics that cause time to sloooooow down so much for her: (You are the only person who can appreciate) my (enadu) precious (Aruyir) son (magani) who plays (Udi) on his flute (kuzhal) to our ears (kAdu) content (Ara), plays (viLaiyADi) with the calves (kanrODu), stands (ninru) in front (munnE) of me/my eyes (kaN) and behaves like one possessed (ATTamum ADi), and creates (Seivadum) some sort of (EdEdO) artful illusion (jAlangaL), and then, runs away (ODi ODi) and enters (pugundu) the houses (manaidorum/manaitanil) of these beautiful/graceful (ezhiluru) [1] women (mangaiyar) and steals (kaLavADiDum) butter from them.

She continues: (You are the only person who can appreciate) for there are no (illai) bounds/limits (ellaiyE) to the mischief (dushTanattirku) he perpetrates (Seiyyum), and if one wants to (enrAl) look for (tEDi) and capture (piDikka) him, one does not have (illai) the energy (Saktiyum) to keep up with him. The time (kAlamum) to catch him red-handed (kaiyum kaLavumAkka) [2] has not come yet (vallai), and I do not have (illai) the time (nEramum) to answer (viDai Solla) the women (mAdarkku) who come to me (vandu ninra) without fail (kAlam tavarAmal) [3], to tattle (kOzh Solla) on him. When I am at the end of my rope and decide (eNNi) to tie (kaTTa) him up, I can't find (kANOm) a rope despite searching (tEDiyum) for it; and all (ellAm) the strings (kayiru) that I am able to lay my hands on (kaikkAna) are not long enough (aLavAga kANOm) [4]. And finally, when I find the right rope and decide (tOnum) to tie (kaTTiDa) him to the grindstone (uralODu) because it is (ena) of the right size (maTTam), and do it, then/but (AnAl) when a sound (oli) that goes (ena) 'maDa maDa' enters (puga vandAl) our ears (Sevi), we will find that the two (iRaNDu) marudam [5] trees (maram) in the backyard are no longer visible (kANavE kANOm).

Isnt there any book available where meanings of carnatic songs are given so that we can enjoy carnatic songs more ?

For me, this composition is an example of Sri OVK's genius where he captures yaSOdA's exasperation with a strong under-current of (maternal) love - a set of seemingly oxy-moronish sentiments that we parents are very familiar with...

I thought Marudam was the arjuna tree (Terminalia arjuna), which is used in medicines like the triphalA.. Also tiru-idai-marudUr is madhya-arjunaM.

Where did you find the reference to marudam being lagerstromia, which I have a faint feeling may be not indigenous to India.
