hearing the other songs for the first time.
I havenot heard devamanohari raga till this concert, (thinking of sudha saaveri),
I am guessing from pallavi line. Someone can cofirm.
Vijay Siva demonstrated what one can plan to do in 2.30 hour concert.
At 8pm, RTP is over and thani started. At 7.10PM, the main song is done. And thanks to the sponcers
for bringing great artists like Vijay Siva to this venue. Please correct me if anything is wrong
in the songlist.

Yes. A good concert indeed. I thought it was a bit overloaded on the Tamil side with both the main numbers in Tamil. I was a bit amused with the sahitya on the Kambodhi piece, where Nataraja is called Mudam (lame) amd also having Sulukku (sprain) for dancing on one foot!! On coming home I was surprised to know it was quite a popular song, as my mother could sing the entire piece!!
Mention should be made of Shriramkumar's violin which on occasions was even a shade better than the main artist with regard to raaga clarity. Very good violinist.
I could not understand some of the abbreviations on the main listing of songs- 5R8, etc., At least the first time it can be given in full and later in the song list, it can be abbreviated. This, for the benefit of newcomers to the forum.

5R8 is invalid.
8R5 - R- raga alapana
8 minutes by main artist and 5 minutes by violinist.

RRS12 you meant rAga mAliga swaras/swara rAga mAligA for 12 minutes right. Should that not be RMS or SRM12
7R3 reminds of going to some big mall /theater in US and parking your car and noting your car parking no.

I understand that Chamaram is the name given to Shanmugapriya in the asampoorna mela system followed by Dikshithar. They are one and the same.

Sridhar, KSSR, Rajesh,

Thanks for understanding in spite of the fact that I have mixed up the number and the alphabets.

RR - Ragamalika Ragas......So
RRS - swarams for Ragamalika ragas.
May be It is simpler said as 12 RS (ragamalika swaras) or add it to swarams (2S) as 14S.

When we attend carnatic concerts, there is always a continuous intellectual challenge of guessing the raga and trying to understand the technical intricacy of a particular sequence. There is great charm in it.

So also there is a charm in GTMOA- (I mean) guessing the meaning of abbreviations!!
