There is a concert of Vidwan Kasthuri Rangan on Sunday 28th March 2010 at the Indian Heritage Academy Hall, Koramangala, Bangalore. Conducted by the Koramangala Rama Seva Mandali as part of Ramanavami series. Good accompanyments. Kasthuri rangan is TNS's senior disciple and is a consistently top class performer. For some unknown reason he is not popular. Free concert. Will try to post a review after the concert.

Please do , this is one musician whom I planned to hear for many many years , but still not got a chance as his concert opportunities in madras are too thin.

I will just add a few lines.

To me it looks like Kasthurirangan is going to take forward the TNS baani in the coming years- besides of course TNS Krishna.The beauty of the very fine brigaas (characteristic of TNS) appearing at the most unexpected niches is sheer delight to listen to. There was a discussion elsewhere in the forum about TNS's Shubapantuvarali. Here KR brought out the deep sadness in all its glory- vintage stuff.
Sound sytem could have been better.
CN Chandrasekhar, followed KR in performing Sruthi bedham into two ragas from Subhapantuvarali which was amazing. I have never heard any other senior violinist try this. Not even Sri.M.Chandrasekar accompanying TNS. Good effort CNC. It was nice.
Also, a word about the percussionists- MT Rajakesari, senior mridangist was very attentive and tried to follow the artist. B.N.Chandramouli on Khanjira was a bit relaxed but did well during thani along with MTR. The mikes and the hall did not help them as there was a huge echo for whatever they played.
