She started the concert on a brisk note with the Dikshitar krithi followed by some good swara rendition. The sriranjani had some new usages and I was expecting Brocheva evare

Mayamma was rendered with utmost bhava and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am really bored of Bantureeti as every artist sings it as a filler and the neraval and swaras are sung really fast. I don't really relish it. But the pick of the day has to be thodi. The varja proyagas was handled really well. What really moved was her tanam rendition. I could actually picturise myself playing it on the veena. The pallavi, though a simple one and was rendered well. She beautifully moved from one ragam to one another. I am assuming she was running short of time, she couldn't really do justice to those ragas. But whatever rendered was too good. The violinist wasn't given a chance to play the ragamalika swaras.
The concert was interrupted by a speech, which I think breaks the flow of the concert. She hardly had anytime to sing thukkadas and as it is people had started walking off when she started the RTP.
In fact many got up during the thani which ofcourse was brought up by the person who spoke after the RTP.
Now coming to the accompanist. She was accompanied by Charulatha Ramanujam on the violin, Poongulam Subramaniam on the Mridangam and Guru Prasanna on the Kanjira.
This is only the third time I have heard Charulatha and this time too she impressed me. Her raga eloboration of Sri Ranjani and Begada were short and sweet. Same was the case with thodi, she matched up to the main artist.
Poongulam is a season mridangam artist. He and Guru prasanna played a short and crisp thani. Overall a nice start to my weekend.
