Shri. G. Ravikiran - Vocal
Smt. Charulatha Ramanujam - Violin
Shri. Balakrishna - Mridanga

1. Ada mOdi - chArukEsi (S)
2. karuNa Ela gaNtE - varALi
3. E pApamu - aTANA (R,N,S)
4. sarasasAmadAna - kApinArAyaNi
5. kaligIyuNtE - kIravANi (R,N,S,T)
6. mOdi jEsEvE - khamAs
7. sapashyAt kausalyA - jOnpuri
8. kshIrasAgara vihArA - Anandabhairavi

The concert of Ravikiran was on thursday afternoon. Being a weekday afternoon, the audience was sparse. The music, however, was excellent. kIravAni stood out among all of them. The niraval for both aTANA and kIravAni was excellent. Apart from the very high quality of music, I personally liked Ravikiran's diction and crystal clear enunciation of the lyrics.

Smt. Charulatha Ramanujam's accompaniment was extremely good. Her anticipation in the raga alapana and kalpana swaras was excellent. Several times both the vocalist and violinist sang/played the same phrases almost simultaneously !

Shri.Balakrishna 's support on the mridangam was very good. Personally, I felt the tani could have been a little longer. It was enjoyable all the same.

The only drawback was that the audio system someone seemed too soft. Despite the members of the audience requesting that the volume be increased, the sound system was soft. Thankfully, by the time the main was sung, the audio system was in good shape.

Overall, an excellent concert !

Vid Ravikiran most certainly does NOT deserve to sing in that time-slot

He played harikambodhi(svarajati by valajapet venkataramaNa bhagavatar), Huseni (excellent alapana followed by Rama nine namminanu), Thodi (detailed alap followed by tyagaraja's NInnu vina sukhamu gana.),kalyani( nidhi chala sukham, vaishnava janatho and ended concert with pavamana . an exellent concert indeed. esp thodi and Huseni alapanas

The Hindu (Blr edition) had carried a great review of the aforesaid concert (main paper) - and now looking at his blog, I realize the Cbe edition carried a review of his concert (the same day) on another concert of his in Coimbatore

I also understand that as part of his Guruguhamrita Trust - Vid G Ravikiran did a 3-day workshop at Sringeri - I would request him to write about it - having a busy worklife and being a young musician, it's rare to find someone who goes out of the way to do such voluntary stuff..
