Is this an extension of the kshEtra bharatam concept?

Hi Shankar,

This is similar to Kshetra Bharatam in concept. Just like how Kshetra Bharatam was implemented as dance programmes, Kshetra Sangeetham is going to be executed as music concerts.

HR,

Thanks for the information. What kshEtra will Dr. Subramaniam's (vijisubra on this forum) concert deal with?

Shankar - Smt. Vijayalakshmy has submitted her thesis on '20th century Tamizh Classical Music composers (Vaggeyakaras) and is awaiting her doctorate . The study aims at understanding the increased involvement of Tamil language as an aid to Carnatic classical music. More details of the research is available at http://www.vijayalakshmysubramaniam.com/research.html

HR thanks for both pieces of information. I had assumed that the doctorate had already been awarded - I guess I forgot how slowly the wheels grind...

I am sure the concert will be great! Best Wishes. The concept is great - the clippings I saw from the kshEtra bharatam series were wonderful, and a music concert will allow for a diiferent slant on these - sometime in the future a 'sangamam' of kshEtra sangItam and kshEtra bharatam will be a nice idea.

Thanks Shankar&Keerthy ! such informations&historical facts will definitely enrich our understanding& elevate the experience during the thematic presentation .The list is so rare &endless . one may require seperate presentation ,if not more for each temple-both Siva kanchis&Vishnu kanchi..
*nice to note the hospitality of those who have accomodated Thiagaraja&MD @Kanchi to stay.Yenna Bagyam?
* Also came to know of Kshetragyar Padams in praise of the shrine.
* Any link available on those listed by keerthy?
* I can not forget the historical background of Kailasanather temple -where Siva wanted the king(name I forget) to postpone the date of consecration of temple built by him to a later date as He(Lord Siva ) had to attend to inaugurate a temple built by Pusalar (Is he one of the nayanmars?).The king was curious to locate Pusalar .When he had asked him where he has got the temple done up -pusalar replied "yen manasukkulley-Within my heart. This was narrated by SKA.Sri.S.Rajam in a Lec.Dem organised to honour him .Kamboji piece was presented by his disciple-Mrs Rohini, the prog anchored by (Dr)V.S.

There is a fine Thillana on Goddess Kamakshi in Nalinakanti sung by Nithyasree in one of her albums. Guess it's by Cuddalore Subramanyam.
Other songs connected with Kanchipuram
Himadri Sute (with beautiful lines "Sumeru Madhya Vasini - Shri Kamakshi) - SS
Kamakshi Bangaru - Varali- SS
Devi Brova - Chintamani - SS
Ranjani Niranjani - Ranjani - GNB

* Three children (girls) in the reception were very cute while you enter the minihall.(I requested for them to be covered by video.)
* The AC was too much of a blast entailing a few of them to cover up their ears!
*VS ,SS being her favorite ( as told by her in Chatcorner) could cover more of SS kritis on the KShetra.
*Swarabhooshani of Thiagaraja was a rare one.
*Good selection of Siva & Vishnu-Composers T,MD,SS,Azhwar,Thevaram.Different language-Tamil,Telugu,sanskrit.
* The description of Nambi Arroran was educative but no relationship with what VS sang I think.
* I stand corrected on my earlier post on Kailasanadena -Kamboji--it is on Tiruninravur.
*Varadaraja mangalam was another unique one.
