I attended the Lec-Demo out of curiosity of knowing the structure adopted by Vidushi Dr.Radha Bhaskar. As rightly pointed out by Shri Mysore V.Subramanya, a noted senior musicologist and reporter on music and dance, Dr.Radha Bhaskar's Lec-demo was interesting and thought provoking even to the learned. It is not surprising that her lec-demo on this subject is immensely popular. True benefits, quality and satisfaction was felt, when a musician and musicologist-lakshya and lakshana Vidushi combo delivered the lec-demo.
To reach out to large audience of rasikas, I made appeal to the Organizers of such events to ensure- a curtain raiser is published by the leading dailies, like events of Hindustani music and Western music, besides their efforts to get the event listed in the engagement columns.
Why rasika forunites of Bangalore did not attend the lec-demo in full strength? Hopefully in future, the trend will change.
Sangita Kala Ratna Smt Neela Ramagopal, a veteran, did mention about the rasikas.org and expressed her satisfaction at the quality and contents of the discussions taking place in this forum

I am happy that at least one forumite attended the programme and also posted his comments. I do not claim to have said anything new in the lecdem. As mr.subramanya rightly pointed out, my presentation did make a lot of rasikas think deeply about our music and also it triggered several questions in their mind. It is a pity that though our Karnatic music has so many rich musical aspects to it, the spiritual and lyrical angle have been so over emphasised by many that this richness of the music has got sidelined and many do not even get to think about it. If I could provide some food for thought on this angle, I am sure my mission is accomplished to some extent. Our music is hailed as great mainly because of the astounding melody and rhythm and its beautiful combinations that are made explicit through many beautiful forms. My lec-dems help rasikas get a peek into this unique aspect..............I will be back in Bangalore in June on public request to conduct a full day workshop on music appreciation. Shall keep you posted about the exact dates. Let us join together and discover the splendour of Karnatic Music!

Smt Radha , congrats for the excellent efforts. Glad to see that the program went well in bangalore . Do you similarly have something like "How to appreciate the percussion oriented aspects with respect to a layman ?" Something like a layAnubhavam for appreciating thanis better , as this could facilitate reducing the exits during thanis and also appreciating thani avarthanams with an understanding rather than monotonous applauding even if it is to a small extent .

But having said that , it can also backfire in the form of receptivity , as the laya artists may find themselves explaining about thanis "thaniyA" ..

Dr.Radha Bhaskar,
I desire that sponsors group - Corporates in particualr and Rotarians in general, should be targeted for the 'Karnatic Music Appreciation'. It is undeniable fact that Corporate sponsors/Rotarians funding or willingness to fund events of Karnatic Music is abysmally poor, in comparision with other genre of music. With better appreciation, I expect change in attitude and decisions. The funds allocations also may improve in line with the funds being allocated for other genre of music.
With your PP presentation technique in Lec-Demo, success is guaranteed. Rasika forunites, with right contacts and connections should take the initiative and concrete actions in this direction in arranging this Lec-Demo, in the larger interest of promoting Karnatic Music to larger audiences/rasikas.

This is a very valuable service for CM propagation and must be encourages in many centres. Is it possible to make vailable a CD/Video of the presetation? For many living abroad it will be a great much needed resource.
