The divine (divya) name (nAmam), that is so sweet (iniya) to chant/intone (nAvirku) [1], 'nArAyaNa', is the sacred (tiru) name (nAmam) of the Lord (nAyakan) who is described in/spoken of by (Sollum) the four (nAn) vEdas (maRai).

(The divine name, nArAyaNa...) is the sacred incantation (mantiram) that the young and loving (anbu Sei) dhruva learned/understood (uNarnda) at the tender age (vayadilE) of six (Aru) as the nectar (amudAi) that never satiates (ArA).

(The divine name, nArAyaNa...) is:
1) the blissful (Ananda) name that sages (munivarum) like nArada and others (Adi), ascetics (yOgiyarum) like sanaka and others (Adi), and prahlAda (prahlAdanum) chant (bhajikkum) everyday (ennALum) to their mouth's content (vAyAra) even as they efface their will/self (manOlayam uRa);
2) the name that is the very essence (sAra) of the vEdas, that very (migu) lovingly (prEmaiyuDan) holds our hands (kai) and lifts (tUkki) us (nammai), unfortunate beings, who despite access to/presence of (irundAlum) such unparalleled happiness (pErAnandam), find ourselves swirling (uzhalum) in the frightening (ghOra) depths (Azhndu) of the ocean (sAgarattil) of worldly existence (bhava), up and helps us get across (tArakam) to salvation, and reassures us (abhayam aruL) [2];
3) is the sacred (tiru) name (nAmam) of the complete one (pUraNan), the husband (maNavALan) of lakshmi (tirumagaL), the bountiful one (varadan) who reclines (tuyil) in the sea (pArkaDalil) with the coils of the snake (aravu) AdisEsha serving as his bed (aNai) [3], the one who mounts (vAhanan) the sacred (punita) garuDa, who is the handsome one (azhagan) with a complexion (mEni) that is like (pOla) the blue (nIla) clouds (mugil);
4) the holy (pAvana) name (nAmam) of the Lord (pati) of vaikuNTha that the worshipful (vaNangum) poet rAmadAsan [4] has realized (kaNDukoNDa) to be the name of the father (janakan) of manmatha (mAra), the repository (Alayan) of compassion (karuNa), and the one who bestows (aruLvOn) auspiciousness (mangaLam) so that the sorrows (tunbam) of his devotees (anbar) disappear (agala).
