(Shri S.V.Krishnan Birthday series - 6pm)

Violin: Aditi Krishnaprakash
Mrudangam: Erode Nagaraj

1. intha chala - varNam - bEgada - Adhi - veenai kuppaiyar

2. buvini dhAsuda - shrI ranjini - Adhi - thyagaraja [s]

3. vinarAdhanA - dhEvagAndhAri - Adhi - thyagaraja

4. paripUrNa kAmA - pUrvikalyANi - rUpaka chApu - thyagaraja [r n s]

5. brOva vammA - mAnji - misra chApu - syama sasthri

6. ragupathE rAmA - sahAnA - rUpaka chApu - thyagaraja [r]

7. gajavadhanA sammOdhitha - thOdi - Adhi - kumara ettendhra bupathi [r n s t]

8. enthati kulukE - jAvaLi - kalyANi - rUpaka chApu - dharmapuri subbarayar

9. kuNtE gAdu - padham - surati - thisra thruputa - kshethrayya

10. pavamAna - mangaLam - Adhi - sourAshram - thyagaraja

Aishwarya presented a chaste classical concert. The begada varnam penned a pillaiyar suzhi for a concert packed with finer renditions. Her swara singing for buvinidhasuda tagged with short cycle rounds for several avarthas sounded interesting. Vinaradhana was followed by an excellent alapana in poorvi kalyani.

Brovavamma in a slow pace contained nidhanam and well knit sangathis. ragupathe rama, a 'not seen often on stage' was good. shri DKJ used to sing this. Thodi ragam was sung with ringing karvais and bhavam. Certainly can be rated as one of the best thodis of post season concerts. Aditi displayed good art with apt replies. I played chathusra and kanda gathis.

A 'moving' javali and the kshethrayya padam in vilamba kalam of thisra thruputa stayed as an 'immovable asset' and the concert concluded with traditional mangalam.

AravarasE,
Thanks for the review. Like Gayathris, we need to pay attention to 'which' Aishwarya we are reading about, I suppose. There are at least three young Aishwaryas around who are performing now!
Nice to get a 'from the stage' review from you after some time.
As others would want to know too, whose student is she?

Arasi - like her Guru(Vid Seethalakshmi Venkatesan) mentions - "andha kuzhandhaikku odambellaam sangeetham" - Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath is a prodigious talent, great mature voice, full of 'totally classical' chaste music which touches your heart. Without any gimmickry whatsoever, she brings out the depth in this form of music - the other thing I've liked about her concerts are the additions of weighty kritis like Brovavamma(manji), Karubaru (mukhari) etc

iLa'mai' = black. Its ignorance that exists when one is young and over the years, when experience adds jnAna, you get mudhu'mai' = white. Not only the top, head(brain) but, also in heart (mind)... no wonder you reach heights(hill)!

i'll remember aishwarya's unhurried brovavamma and sahAna for a while. The pUrvikalyANi and tODi were good as well..
